Compilation of maps probably by Gerardus Mercator. “ The atlas contains a set of nine plates taken from various copies of Gerardus Mercator’s 1554 wall map of Europe; a set of six plates from copies of Mercator’s 1564 map of the British Isles; two plates from Mercato’rs large world map of 1569; two manuscript maps; thirty maps from the Latin edition of Ortelius’ Theatrum orbis terrarum of 1570 and an urban plan of the city of ANcona. The atlas is therefore a mixed bag of material, possibly resulting from the 1771 restoration exercise”.
