Framed Miniatures: a total of 150, mostly representing players at a board game; the types of figures playing the games and the types of frames/settings in which they do so varies widely; both genders, several ethnicities, and a range of ages are represented; often there are more figures present than just the two playing the game, and these watch the game or engage in other activities; a large color palette, including gold, is used; the miniatures range in size from about one fourth the folio length to full-page, always covering at least the ruled area in width, sometimes extending into the margin; most common size is one-third length; the miniatures are intercalated in the text; Brief descriptions of the miniatures on each folio can be found in the introductory section of the commentary volume (pp 17-26) -- Initials: The beginning of each section within a book is marked by a pen-flourished initial, usually around 10 lines high; the flourishing is done with extremely fine detail; they alternate between red and blue in color
