Three full page miniatures: Crucifixion (f. 23v), Annunciation (f. 47v), and David praying the penitential Psalms (f. 144v) -- Thirty historiated initials, four to six lines in height; with the Hours of the Virgin, there are scenes from the birth and infancy narratives in Matthew and Luke, including the Visitation (f. 66r), the Nativity (f. 88r), Annunciation to the Shepherds (f. 95v), the Magi (f. 103v), the Presentation (f. 110v), the Flight into Egypt (f. 117v), and the Massacre of the Innocents (f. 134r); several Marian prayers begin with variations on the Virgin and Child; the manuscript's owner, Adolph of Cleves, kneels before the crucified Christ on f. 199v; the remaining initials depict the saints addressed in the suffrages, including a six-line initial of the evisceration of St. Erasmus on f. 214v -- Several one- to four-line, dentelle and foliate initials and line fillers -- Each page has a gold, circular border with rays drawn around it in red pen
